D. Stan Barnhill | Principal
D. Stan Barnhill has substantial litigation experience representing businesses and persons in breach-of-contract, business torts, construction, professional malpractice and other commercial disputes. His experience also includes representing media outlets in First Amendment, Freedom of Information, reporter privilege and defamation matters. He also represents numerous business owners, contractors and design professions in contract formation and general business and litigation avoidance advising.
Extended Bio
Stan is a past chair of the Construction Law Section of the Virginia State Bar and a member of the Virginia State Bar’s Litigation Section, the American Bar Association’s Litigation Section, and the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry.
Stan, with Woods Rogers since 1983, has been recognized for excellence through his annual listing in Best Lawyers in America for First Amendment law, business litigation, construction law, and professional malpractice defense, and is annually listed in Virginia Business’s “Legal Elite” for construction law.
After receiving both bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Virginia Tech, Stan earned a law degree from Washington and Lee University, where he graduated magna cum laude, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and served as lead articles editor of the Law Review.
