Join HCR and Woods Rogers in this full day seminar designed help guide you through the new HIPAA regulations presented in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).  What most healthcare providers do not realize is that the ARRA significantly expands the scope of the privacy and security requirements under HIPAA pursuant to the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act’s (HITECH Act) provisions within the ARRA.

Medical identity theft is a specific type of identity theft which occurs when a person uses someone else's personal health information, such as insurance information, Social Security Number, or medical records, without the individual's knowledge or consent to obtain medical goods or services, or to submit false claims for medical services.  Under the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, effective November 1, 2009, healthcare providers must have a plan to detect, mitigate, and prevent “red flags” that signal potential identity theft.

This seminar will address the benefits and the drawbacks of the HITECH Act and how the provisions of FACTA will impact medical and dental practices
