• proceedings before the State Corporation Commission, including traditional regulation and deregulation of utility rates, services, facilities and territories (certificates of public convenience and necessity); mergers and acquisitions involving regulated companies; and enforcement matters brought by the Commission
• environmental, land use, mining and minerals, workplace safety, professional licensing and other regulatory matters before state, local and federal agencies, (including Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ); Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC); Virginia Department of Health; Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy; Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (VABC); Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT); Virginia Department of Professional & Occupational Regulation (VDOPR); U. S. Environmental Protection Agency; U.S Fish and Wildlife Service; U. S. Army Corps of Engineers; U. S. Department of Interior, Office of Surface Mining; Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mining Safety and Health Administration (MSHA)).
• state and federal litigation and appeals related to, or arising out of, State Corporation Commission and other administrative agency regulatory requirements and decisions.
• matters involving legislative and public policy issues before the Virginia General Assembly, its committees and sub-committees.
