Woods Rogers Welcomes J. Lee E. Osborne and Claude D. Carter

Woods Rogers PLC has announced the addition of J. Lee E. Osborne as a principal and Claude D. Carter as of counsel in the firm’s Roanoke office.  In addition, Regina Watkins and Beth Brown have joined Woods Rogers as paralegal clerks, providing extensive paralegal support in the areas of tax, trusts and estate planning.

Osborne comes to Woods Rogers from Carter & Osborne PC.  He focuses on estate planning and administration, taxation, business planning and transactions and real estate. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, which recognizes individual attorneys for distinguished contributions to the practice of estate planning, probate and trust law.  Mr. Osborne is an adjunct professor at the Washington and Lee School of Law, where he teaches estate planning.  He has presented continuing legal education programs on various subjects, including ethics at the Douglas W. Conner Annual Advanced Estate Planning and Administration Seminar.  He is a graduate of the Marshall-Wythe School of Law, College of William and Mary, where he received his J.D. and his Master of Law and Taxation degree.

Carter also comes to Woods Rogers from Carter & Osborne, PC.  His practice is focused on tax, estate planning and administration, real estate and business law.  Carter is a native of Roanoke and Botetourt County and is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and the   Washington and Lee School of Law.   Mr. Carter served as a member (1980 – 1983) and chairman (1982) of the Board of Supervisors, Botetourt County.  He has also served on many other boards and commissions, including the Roanoke Regional Airport Commission, the Fifth Planning District Commission, the League of Older Americans and Total Action Against Poverty.
