D. Stan Barnhill joined Woods Rogers in 1983. Stan has extensive litigation experience representing businesses in breach-of-contract, business torts, defamation, commercial, construction disputes and malpractice defense. He is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in Virginia, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States Supreme Court, and the Court of Federal Claims. Stan is a past chair of the Construction Law Section of the Virginia State Bar, and a member of the Virginia State Bar's Litigation Section, the Virginia Bar Association's Construction Law Council, the American Bar Association's Litigation Section, and the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry. After receiving a B.S. and M.S. at Virginia Tech, Stan earned a J.D. from Washington and Lee University, where he graduated magna cum laude, was elected to the Order of the Coif, and served as Lead Articles Editor of the Law Review. Stan has been named in "The Best Lawyers in America" (First Amendment Law, Construction, Professional Malpractice and Business Litigation) and Virginia Business' "Legal Elite" (Litigation 2000, 2005; Construction Law 2002-2004, 2007).
