George J. A. Clemo concentrates in the areas of public finance, public utilities and general business, including international transactions. George represents Virginia municipalities and other governmental entities as bond counsel and acts in other capacities in connection with a range of tax-exempt financings, including general obligation financings for localities and conduit financings for private companies. George also represents public utilities in state regulatory proceedings before the Virginia State Corporation Commission. He also has worked in a wide range of general business transactions, including commercial lending, general corporate and business work and a variety of international transactions. George has been a member of the Virginia State Bar since 1985, and joined the firm in 1988, where he is now a principal. George has served on the Board of Directors of the Virginia State Bar International Practice Section and the Board of Directors of the VSB Administrative Law Section. He also served on the Board of Directors of the firm from 1996-2000. George is a member of the American, Virginia and Roanoke Bar Associations, and the National Association of Bond Lawyers. A native of the United Kingdom, George earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in foreign affairs (with distinction 1977) from the University of Virginia, a Master of Arts degree in history (1979) from the University of Virginia and his law degree in 1985 from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William & Mary.
