Benjamin Webb King is a principal in the firm’s Roanoke office and a member of the litigation section. He concentrates on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights and litigation matters. Webb regularly represents creditors, debtors and other interest holders in Chapter 11 cases and creditors in Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 cases. He also represents creditors outside of bankruptcy, working to perfect and enforce lien rights and enforce court judgments, including use of the Uniform Enforcement of Foreign Judgments Act to enforce judgments obtained outside Virginia. Outside of bankruptcy, he has handled a wide variety of civil cases, including Uniform Commercial Code matters, FELA cases, breach of contract cases, real estate disputes, business torts and breach of fiduciary duty claims. Webb also regularly handles both commercial and residential landlord/tenant matters.
Webb graduated magna cum laude from the University of Richmond School of Law in 2001. At Richmond, he served as an Associate Editor of the Law Review, a Moot Court Board Member and was a teaching assistant for a first year legal skills class. He clerked for Woods Rogers during the summers of 1999 and 2000. Webb received a B.A. in history, magna cum laude, from Roanoke College in 1998.
In 2007, Webb was selected to be an associate in the Ted Dalton American Inn of Court in Roanoke. Each American Inn of Court is limited to approximately 80 members each. The Inns of Court program is designed to improve the skills, professionalism and ethics of lawyers and judges by providing younger attorneys the opportunity to learn from and interact with experienced lawyers and judges in small groups.
Webb is currently active in the Virginia Bar Association and serves as the Chair-Elect of the Young Lawyer’s Division. For many years, Webb was a regular contributor to the Recent Developments section of the Bankruptcy Law News, a publication of the Virginia State Bar’s Bankruptcy Law Section, writing and editing summaries of recent bankruptcy cases.
Webb is the past president of the board of directors of the Greenvale School in Roanoke City. Greenvale is a non-profit childcare center that provides services designed for working families and single parents. Greenvale serves children from 6 weeks to 12 years old and sets its fees based on the family’s ability to pay.
