RJ Lackey is a principal of Woods Rogers PLC and a member of the firm's Labor and Employment and Corporate Groups. He has experience in various areas of the law, including employment law and general business law. RJ has advised clients in many aspects of employment law including wrongful termination, sexual harassment, race and sex discrimination claims, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. He has drafted personnel manuals, drug and alcohol testing policies, employment contracts, resignation agreements and releases, noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements, and other employment policies for both public agencies and private companies. RJ has lectured management employees, conducted employment investigations and counseled management on numerous aspects of employment law and has handled numerous grievances and complaints before the EEOC and the VEC.
RJ is very active in the Danville community. RJ has been active in Goodwill Industries, the Danville Concert Association, Danville youth soccer leagues, Project Celebration and United Way. He is a member of the Danville Bar, the Virginia Bar Association and the Virginia State Bar.
Born in Richmond, Virginia, RJ received his B.A. from the University of Virginia. RJ received his law degree from the University of Richmond where he was on the Moot Court Board, the National Moot Court Team and where he was awarded Best Brief in the Barnett Moot Court Competition. RJ was also Law Student Adviser and a member of Phi Delta Phi while at the University of Richmond. RJ was admitted to the Virginia Bar in 1991.
