William B. Poff is a former principal and now Of Counsel in the Roanoke office of Woods Rogers PLC. Bill has extensive experience in virtually all areas of Commercial and Civil Litigation.  He has argued and tried cases in federal and state courts, including the Virginia Supreme Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. Bill has been named in the Best Lawyers in America publication since its inception, and he served on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association from 1987 to 1990. Bill is a Member of the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and has served on the National Executive Committee since 1993. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers. He has served on the Rules Advisory Committee of both the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Virginia Supreme Court. Bill joined the Firm in 1959 after completing undergraduate work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and earning his LL.B. from Washington and Lee University summa cum laude, member of Phi Beta Kappa and Order of the Coif.

Bill received The Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys(VADA) Award for Excellence in Civil Litigation in 2004. The VADA notes that Bill demonstrates the highest quality of ability and leadership in the legal profession and is often thought of as a role model.
