W. McIlwaine Thompson, Jr.

W. McIlwaine Thompson, Jr. is Of Counsel to Woods Rogers PLC. Mac practices corporate law representing companies in diverse fields including biotechnology, high-tech, publishing, and oil and gas exploration. He has organized various entities and worked on issues associated with financing and refinancing including negotiating investment terms and conditions.  He serves on the boards of JVI, LLC, a luxury packaging provider, Mestena, Inc., an oil and gas exploration company, Foundation Energy Company, LLC, a purchaser and manager of oil and gas assets for institutional investors, and Thomas Rutherfoord, Inc., a risk management and insurance company.  He is on the investment committee of Tall Oaks Capital, L.P., a venture capital partnership based in Charlottesville and serves as corporate secretary of Insmed Incorporated (NASDAQ: INSM).

He graduated from Yale College in 1969 and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1972.
