J. Alden Engish is Of Counsel in the Charlottesville office of Woods Rogers PLC. He concentrates his practice in the areas of real estate transactions, finance, corporate formation and governance, and mergers and acquisitions.
In his real estate practice, Alden represents developers, lenders, landlords, tenants, and other clients in a variety of transactions, including the sale, purchase, development, financing, leasing and management of both unimproved land and existing commercial and residential projects. He also represents clients in connection with planned communities, residential subdivisions and mixed use projects, and with respect to conservation easements, real estate tax and easement disputes, and other matters.
In his corporate practice, Alden handles the formation of corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships and other entities, governance issues for businesses and charitable organizations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and contract negotiation. He also represents investors in private equity and venture capital funds.
Alden is a long-time resident of Charlottesville. He earned his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1998 and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2002. He was named a Virginia Super Lawyers "Rising Star" in 2008, 2009, and 2010.
