Woods Rogers was pleased to sponsor the 2019 Virginia Tech Entrepreneur Challenge on March 1, 2019. This event is a campus-wide, student startup idea competition that brings together successful alumni-entrepreneurs, business partners and students in a showcase of the best new ventures at Virginia Tech.
Nathan Evans, Woods Rogers intellectual property and patent attorney, served as a judge for the competition. His panel evaluated 10 teams whose startup ideas ranged from software for the fundraising and ridesharing industries, to medical solutions, to e-learning in virtual reality. He commented, “I was extremely impressed with the quality of the presentations and underlying business ideas showcased at the event. It is exciting to see such innovative technology coming out of Virginia’s higher education system.”
The top honor of the night went to Team Exoskeleton from Maroon Assistive Technology.
Congratulations to all of the teams. You can check out the participants and their incredible ideas here.
Evans added, “Virginia Tech is doing important work as a leader fostering entrepreneurs in Southwestern Virginia’s growing tech sector. Woods Rogers looks forward to our role in helping both the faculty and the entrepreneurs as they continue to create an environment where these new ideas can be brought to life.”
