Bankruptcy Attorney (All Locations)
Woods Rogers is seeking a Bankruptcy Attorney to join its dynamic Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights team. The ideal candidate will have three to five years’ experience handling a variety of bankruptcy matters and representing clients in court proceedings, negotiations, and restructuring efforts. This role involves advising clients on all aspects of financial distress, insolvency, and creditors’ rights matters. The successful candidate may be based at any of our five office locations.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Admission to the state bar of Virginia.
- Previous experience handling bankruptcy matters.
- Strong knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and related laws.
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and client-relations skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Client-focused with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Represent corporate debtors, creditors, lenders, and trustees in bankruptcy proceedings and related litigation.
- Advise clients on restructuring strategies, insolvency planning, and asset protection.
- Draft and file bankruptcy petitions, disclosure statements, reorganization plans, and other pleadings.
- Handle bankruptcy-related litigation and negotiate creditor agreements.
- Collaborate with corporate finance and litigations teams on complex cross-practice matters.
- Conduct legal research, draft memos, and provide strategic counsel on bankruptcy law and commercial implications.
- Attend hearings and court proceedings as necessary.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships. Regularly communicate with clients to understand their business objectives and provide tailored legal advice.
