Paralegal, Commercial Real Estate (Charlottesville, VA)

Woods Rogers is seeking to hire a Paralegal with experience working in Commercial Real Estate. The Paralegal provides essential support to attorneys in the preparation and management of real estate transactions. This includes handling documentation, conducting research, and coordinating with clients and other parties.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, in-office position at our Charlottesville, VA office. The anticipated schedule for this position is Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM with an unpaid lunch break.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience working as a paralegal in a commercial real estate practice.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High level of discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive client information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal certification

Responsibilities

  • Draft and review real estate documents, such as purchase agreements, leases, deeds, and closing documents.
  • Prepare title affidavits, closing statements, and other transactional documents.
  • Perform extensive title research and be able to read and interpret title commitments.
  • Coordinate and review surveys and ensure all title exceptions are addressed.
  • Conduct due diligence investigations, including zoning, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
  • Organize and coordinate real estate closings.
  • Prepare and manage closing checklists.
  • Perform legal research related to real estate law and regulations.
  • Communicate with clients, real estate agents, lenders, and other parties involved in transactions.
  • Assist attorneys with other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Enter billable time into timekeeping system.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
