The Woods Rogers Summer Associate Program gives law students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in different areas of the law while working under the guidance of some of the top attorneys in their fields. Summer associates are afforded an experience similar to that of a first-year associate, including challenging assignments, knowledge and skill development, and social interaction with partners, associates, and staff.

In selecting summer associates, the firm seeks diverse, energetic, creative candidates with strong academic credentials. Participation on law review, moot court, and trial advocacy teams is considered, but not required. Other factors considered are a strong employment background, excellent interpersonal skills, leadership potential, student organization involvement in groups seeking to resolve issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and commitment to civic and community involvement. All interested candidates are encouraged to apply.

The Summer Associate Program includes a wide range of social activities so that summer associates can interact with our attorneys and one another outside the work environment. The Roanoke area, where the primary office is located, offers a rich variety of festivals, concerts, museums, and outdoor activities such as boating, kayaking, hiking, and rock-climbing. As the 6th largest law firm in Virginia, Woods Rogers also maintains offices in downtown Richmond, Charlottesville, and Lynchburg.
