King Tower Shares Insights with The Hoya on Higher Ed Discrimination Case
In a recent article in The Hoya, Georgetown University’s student newspaper, King Tower was quoted offering legal analysis of an employment discrimination lawsuit involving the university. The case was brought by a Black Palestinian Muslim and former employee who alleged that Georgetown engaged in discriminatory employment practices when it terminated her based on antisemitic social media posts from years before her hiring.
A federal judge dismissed the case, finding that the plaintiff did not provide sufficient evidence that her termination was based on race, religion, or national origin. The court also rejected her retaliation and conspiracy claims.
In the article, King explained that the lawsuit failed to establish a sufficient connection between the plaintiff’s discrimination complaint and her termination, which occurred 56 days after she was offered the position. As King noted, “The court didn’t find that there was sufficient evidence that the adverse action was because of those protected activities.”
