Why Are Cybercriminals Targeting Law Firms with Voice Phishing?

In a June 16 article published by Law.com’s Legaltech News, Woods Rogers Principal and Chair of our Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Practice Beth Waller offers her insights into a disturbing trend impacting law firms of all sizes across the country: Voice phishing, or ‘vishing.’ The danger for law firms, in particular, according to Beth, is that it presents a particularly troubling PR issue if client confidence is compromised.
To address the issue, Beth advises firms to establish a protocol for employees to follow when receiving a call from an outside number claiming to be IT, such as asking the caller to confirm a piece of information from the organization’s internal website.
