Workplace Sexual Assault and Third-Party Risk: What's the Tea in L&E?
In this episode of What’s the Tea in L&E, Labor & Employment attorney Raven Burks joins host Leah Stiegler to unpack risks that all employers have when dealing with a sexual assault in the workplace to another employee or third party (such as a customer or patient). They also walk through Virginia’s newly enacted Sexual Assault Employer Accountability Act, which took effect on July 1, 2025.
This law expands employer liability for sexual assault committed by employees against third parties. Leah and Raven explore who qualifies as a “vulnerable victim” under the statute and advise employers to proactively train employees in third-party roles to implement safeguards and reduce risk.
What’s the Tea in L&E is a video series focused on the latest trends and updates in Labor & Employment law.
