Geoff Hemphill Named a “Go To Lawyer” for Tax Law by Virginia Lawyers Weekly

Recognition

Virginia Lawyers Weekly named Geoff Hemphill one of its “Go To Lawyers” for Tax Law. Geoff, as a principal and tax law attorney, is a trusted advisor to clients navigating the complexities of federal, state, and local taxation.

With a practice spanning taxation, ERISA, employee benefits, business transactions, and estate planning, Geoff helps corporate and individual clients navigate this complicated legal area. He advises closely held corporations and limited liability companies on succession planning and is a key member of many clients’ M&A teams. His employee benefits work includes qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, executive compensation, and welfare benefits—serving both private and governmental entities.

Geoff is an adjunct professor at Regent University School of Law, where he teaches Corporate and Individual Taxation. He is actively involved in professional organizations including the American Bar Association and Virginia Bar Association’s Taxation Sections, the Hampton Roads Tax Forum, and the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

The “Go To Lawyers” program recognizes leading attorneys in a particular practice area. Attorneys are nominated by their peers based on their experience, expertise, and record of success. Attorneys are asked to nominate “a lawyer you might call yourself if you needed help in his or her field.”
