Woods Rogers Celebrates Richard Ottinger’s Induction into Virginia Law Foundation

Recognition

Richard Ottinger, a principal at Woods Rogers and leader of the Maritime team, has been named to the Virginia Law Foundation’s Fellows Class of 2026—a distinction reserved for attorneys who set the bar for excellence and community impact.

Richard is more than a top-tier attorney and litigator. He is also a trusted advisor for maritime transportation businesses navigating high-stakes challenges. His work spans complex commercial disputes, intellectual property issues, real estate conflicts, and more.

Beyond his client work, Richard is a recognized leader in Virginia’s business and legal communities. He served as president of the Virginia Bar Association, earned a spot on Virginia Business magazine’s “Virginia 500 – The Power List,” and was named one of Virginia Lawyers Weekly’s “Leaders in the Law.” These honors reflect his commitment to advancing justice and strengthening the business environment across the Commonwealth.

Richard’s induction adds to the distinguished group of Woods Rogers attorneys who have been honored as Virginia Law Foundation Fellows, including VLF’s new Board Member Victor Cardwell (2025), Thomas Winn (2024), Rich Maxwell (2020), Lee Osborne (2013), Ray King (2008), Mark Loftis (2008), James Jennings (1997), Talfourd Kemper (1994), and Anita Poston (1994).
